Cape Town’s CBD and “City Bowl” area offer a vast array of apartments and penthouses to rent as well as houses, townhouses and garden cottages.
The backdrop to the CBD is one of the breath-taking natural wonders of the world, Table Mountain, and many tenants here are able to wake up to this beautiful sight every morning, while other apartments to let offer panoramic harbour and waterfront views.
Cape Town’s CBD and Foreshore areas have undergone major regeneration over the past 20 years, and many older office buildings, hotels and apartment blocks have been converted into modern and highly-secure residential complexes offering New York-style lofts to rent, complemented by in-house pools, gyms, business centres, entertainment areas and convenience shops.
Many of these apartments are let to tourists and business visitors on a per-day basis, but the area is also popular with students and young professionals, not least because of its vibrant nightlife. It also attracts diplomats, parliamentary staff and senior government officials, while corporate executives have recently also started to rent city apartments close to their offices that they use during the week in order to avoid Cape Town’s infamous traffic congestion.
There is high demand for both furnished and unfurnished flats to rent, and rentals in the city centre start at around R6000 a month for a bachelor or studio unit and range from R8500 a month all the way up to R25 000 a month for a one-bedroom unit, depending on size, location, furnishings and extras such as balcony space or garaging.
